You've just welcomed a puppy or a kitten and a question quickly comes up: which vaccines, at what age, and how much does it cost in Morocco? Here's a clear, reassuring reference so you don't forget anything, without the jargon.
Why vaccination is a real issue in Morocco
Vaccination protects your pet against serious, often fatal diseases. In Morocco, one stake goes even beyond your household: rabies. It's a fatal disease, transmissible to humans, still present in the country.
In 2024, the Moroccan authorities recorded more than 100,000 cases of animal bites and scratches and 33 human deaths linked to rabies. According to the data shared during the official campaign, about 9 in 10 human infections come from dogs. Vaccinating your pet therefore also means protecting your family and those around you.
Good news: every year, ONSSA runs a national campaign of free anti-rabies vaccination for dogs and cats (the "Stop Rage" operation, usually in September), by appointment with participating vets. A real boost to get compliant at no cost.
The puppy schedule
For dogs, the core vaccine is often called CHPPiL. Behind these letters lie distemper, Rubarth's hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and leptospirosis. Rabies is added to it.
International veterinary guidelines (WSAVA) recommend a first vaccination in several injections spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, the last given at the age of 16 weeks or older, then a booster around 6 months to 1 year. Here's a common schedule, to be confirmed with your vet.

The kitten schedule
For cats, the reference vaccine covers feline panleukopenia (typhus), cat flu (rhinotracheitis and calicivirus) and, often, feline leukemia (FeLV). Rabies rounds out the protection, especially for a cat that goes outdoors or travels.

And boosters in adulthood?
The duration of protection varies by vaccine: some "core" ones protect for several years, others (like leptospirosis or leukemia) call for a more frequent booster. Only your vet can set the right pace for your pet. Rabies, for its part, follows a precise booster schedule to be respected, notably for travel.
How much do vaccines cost in Morocco?
Prices vary by city, clinic, vaccine brand (Nobivac, Purevax, Felocell…) and the time spent on the consultation. The ranges below are indicative: always ask your vet for a quote.

As a real-world benchmark, a Marrakech clinic, for example, lists the rabies vaccine at 100 DH and a combined dog vaccine at around 150–200 DH, excluding any additional fees (record book, microchip). If a specific price is missing in your city, treat these amounts as orders of magnitude and check with your local vet.
Where to get your pet vaccinated
The best is to choose a vet close to home, for regular follow-up and boosters that are easy to keep up with. Also keep in mind ONSSA's free anti-rabies campaign if it's under way in your region.
