On-call vet in Morocco: how to spot the emergency

An evening, a weekend, your pet is unwell and your usual vet is closed. Unlike some countries with a single national number, Morocco has no centralized equivalent: knowing where to call in advance saves precious minutes.

Is it an emergency? The warning signs

Seek care without delay for breathing difficulty, bleeding that won't stop, repeated vomiting or diarrhea, swallowing a toxic product or food (chocolate, grapes, antifreeze, human medicine), a hard swollen belly, seizures, inability to urinate, trauma, or sudden collapse.

When in doubt, call a vet: only they can assess severity. Do not give any human medicine without veterinary advice — many are toxic to dogs and cats.

Where to find an on-call vet

Several clinics, notably in Casablanca, run 24/7 emergency services. The useful reflex: identify the nearest emergency clinic in advance and save its number, so you're not searching in a panic.

Filter "emergency / open 24/7" by city on the ALEEF directory and keep the right contact at hand.

Prepare the ground before the emergency

Keep accessible from your phone the health record, current treatments and the pet's weight — info the vet will ask for immediately.
